Project name

Multicultural Mindfulness Resources

Background

Over the past 2 years, the COVID-19 pandemic has had significant impact on the mental health of many people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Generally these communities have poorer access to mental health support and resources, with language being one of the main barriers.

There has been increasing popularity and evidence-base of mindfulness practice for mental wellbeing in the past two decades. In 2012, an Arabic Mindfulness Skills CD was developed by South Eastern Sydney Local Health District as part of an in-person program to help people with stress-management. Due to the demonstrated effectiveness of the program, the Multicultural Mindfulness Resources have now been developed to try to reach other cultural and language groups that could benefit from the mindfulness exercises.

Aims

The Multicultural Mindfulness Resources aim to help people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities improve their mental wellbeing, by providing a set of culturally-adapted and in-language mindfulness exercises in audio and video format.
