Co-designing strategies to increase participation of people from
culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in diverse cancer research

In March 2020, MHCS came together with CONCERT Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research and SEaRCH UNSW to lead a workshop to develop strategies for increasing participation of people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities in cancer research.

Multicultural Health Communication Awards


The NSW Multicultural Health Communication Awards were announced during the launch of Multicultural Health Week 2019. The winner of the ‘Patients/Consumer as Partners Category’ was the multilingual resource, “Where can I get help when alcohol or drugs are a problem?

This was produced by the Illawarra Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Local Drug Action Team from Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Drug & Alcohol, Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District Health Care Interpreter Service, and St Vincent’s Drug & Alcohol Service. Hygiene Etiquette Posters – help us stop the spread

NSW Health Hygiene etiquette posters to reduce the spread of COVID-19, are available in 21 languages: English, Arabic, Bangla, Burmese, Dari, Farsi, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Mandarin, Mongolian, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Thai, Tibetan, and Vietnamese.

Social Distancing – translated messages

Social distancing can help limit the spread of COVID-19. Social distancing means avoiding close contact with other people; this includes staying 1.5 metres away from other people. NSW Health Social distancing resources are available in 18 languages: English, Arabic, Bangla, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Farsi, Filipino - Tagalog, French, Greek, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Italian, Spanish, Tamil, Thai, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Symptoms Posters – COVID-19

If you have a fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath, and you have been overseas in the last 14 days or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19, please call your doctor or healthdirect (1800 022 222). NSW Health COVID-19 Symptoms Posters available in 16 languages: English, Arabic, Bangla, Bahasa/Indonesian, Chinese - Simplified, Chinese - Traditional, Farsi, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Mongolian, Portuguese, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese.
